Job description / Role
Job Description:
• Interpret architectural, engineering, and interior design plans and prepare material lists and specifications to be used as standards by contractors related to building construction activities.
• Write technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties, utilizing knowledge of material standards, construction processes, or manufacturing procedures at various stages of the design project from Schematic Design, Detailed Design to Final Design.
• Conduct quality reviews of construction documents while researching and preparing specifications.
• Be aware of the products on the market, assisting in maintaining and developing the firm library of catalogs and other information for designers and architects to use.
• Prepare Tender and Contract Documents, including Main Contract Works, MUR, and PC-PS Tender Packages.
• Respond to Tender Queries and RFIs.
• Support in the Preparation of Concept Design Reports and Architectural Drawings.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Architects, and Sub-Consultants about project design.
• Review in-progress drawings, ensuring complete and coordinated technical specifications with drawings and schedules and offering modifications and improvements when appropriate
• Review material submittals, shop drawings, and manufacturer’s prequalifications.
• Conduct product research, including review and evaluation of product literature, manufacturer’s company profile, testing and material standards, building (international and local codes, and sustainability rating systems (Estidama, Green Building, and LEED) as necessary to ensure that materials and methods are appropriate for each project.
• Preparation of schematic design reports. Preparation of construction cost estimate for preliminary submission.
• Assistant to the Q.S. in preparation of Bill of Quantities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• 10-15 years of experience in an Architectural/Engineering firm with a focus on specifications writing (NBS, CSI)
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, diploma in architectural technology, or another construction related field.
• Leadership skills, as well as the ability to work well within a team of other professionals
• Organizational, project management, and planning skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks
• An analytical mind with excellent problem-solving ability.
• Demonstrate ability to organize and coordinate projects.
• Ensure adequate knowledge of specifications to annotate drawings correctly.
• Ensure adequate English to ensure correct spelling and grammar on all documentation.
